Equipment

Amber Hill Physical Therapy utilizes innovative Pneumex equipment to provide cutting-edge treatment programs for chronic back pain, Scoliosis, Kyphosis (curvature of the spine), athletic performance training and balance programs. Don Novak, owner of Amber Hill Physical Therapy, is the only physical therapist in Maryland that is certified for Pneumex’s Back, Scoliosis and FAST™ (sports & fitness) Systems.

Pneumex MAP and Pneumex Chair

The Pneumex MAP is a posture gauge that graphically measures the posture curves and lean. The graphing is done with the patient standing in front of the Pneu-M.A.P.™ Both the patient and the clinician can see how the patients posture compares to the ideal posture. The Pneu-Map™ provides simple diagnosis and documentation. The MAP can be used for measuring postural curves in standing and sitting postures as well as ROM of the thoracic spine and lateral curves such as scoliosis.

A recent study at the University of Montana has shown a high correlation when comparing the MAPs ability to measure a Scoliotic curve and X-rays of a Scoliotic curve.

The results show which exercises the patient needs to perform on the Pneu-Back Chair™ to strengthen the weak areas of the back.

The Pneu-Back Chair™ stabilizes the pelvis to help eliminate the use of stomach and leg muscles to hold up the back and encourage the use of the smaller spinal muscles to support and strengthen the back.

Patients perform specific movements (not using gluts, quads, hams or other areas of the back), and along the physical therapist’s selected techniques, the inactive or under-active muscle fibers are re-educated. This is very effective at creating positive postural changes.

The Pneu-Weight™ Unweighting System

Pneu-Weight’s™ Unweighting range allows patients to perform low-impact kinetic exercises in an upright functional position. Activities such as walking, running, stair climbing, jumping and balance may all be performed safely in an un-weighted condition. Un-weighting allows rehabilitation to begin sooner, utilizing task-specific functional exercise without the pain.

The Back System III Stretching Machine

This equipment gives patients proper form while stretching their backs.

KT1000™

This instrument is used to screen acute knee injuries and quantitatively document anterior-posterior knee measurability.
