Our Staff

Amber Hill Physical Therapy is owned and operated by Donald J. Novak, P.T., D.P.T., a well-known and respected member of the physical therapy profession in western Maryland. Don has extensive training and experience in a wide variety of manual therapy techniques, including muscle energy and myofacial techniques and sports medicine.

He holds a B.S. in Physical Therapy from the University of Maryland, and a Strength and Conditioning Certification from the Professional Health and Fitness Institute. He also holds certifications in Acute and Chronic Backs, Scoliosis, and Fitness and Sports Training from the Pneu-Back Performance Program. Additionally, he has a Level III F.A.S.T. Fitness and Sports Training on the Pneumex Unweighting Equipment.

Along with his 17 years of experience as a physical therapist, Don has taken continuing education courses on rehabilitation of orthopedic and neurological impairments. Don is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA). In recognition of his expertise and contributions to physical therapy in Maryland, Governor Robert L. Ehrlich, Jr. appointed Don to the State Board of Physical Therapy Examiners in 2005.

As the owner of one of the oldest and most respected practice in western Maryland, Don has built a patient-centered rehabilitation staff and program that offers high quality, personalized physical therapy programs for each of our patients in welcoming settings.

Many of our highly qualified physical therapists hold advanced degrees, and have taken additional training courses in various specialty areas.

Our therapists average 11 years of experience, so you can trust their knowledge and experience. In addition, all of our therapists are members of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), the American Occupational Therapy Association or the American Society of Hand Therapists.

A number of our therapists also belong to the Oncology, Neurology, and/or Orthopedic Sections of the APTA.

Our staff of therapists is supported by experienced and licensed physical therapy assistants who contribute to the caring, personalized services that characterize Amber Hill. In addition, our friendly, knowledgeable office staff is happy to assist patients with insurance questions.
