At Amber Hill Physical Therapy, “patients come first” is more than a slogan. We are fully committed to providing quality care for our patients delivered in a comfortable and private setting. Patients of all ages receive individual attention and care from our hightly skilled therapists and staff in a tem-like atmosphere.
Our experienced therapists are all members of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and the American Occupational Therapy Association. A number of our therapists also belong to the Oncology, Neurology and/or Orthopedic sections of the APTA.
Our staff of therapists includes experienced and licensed Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists and Physical Therapist Assistants who work together to provide the caring, personalized services that characterize Amber Hill.
In addition, our friendly, knowledgeable office staff is happy to assist patients with insurance questions.
Amber Hill Physical Therapy is owned and operated by Donald J. Novak, a well-known and respected member of the physical therapy profession in Frederick and western Maryland.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Maryland, and his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the Rocky Mountain University of Health Care Professionals.
In addition he has a Strength and Conditioning Certification from the Professional Health and Fitness Institute. He also holds certifications in acute and chronic back pain, scoliosis, and fitness and sports training from the Pneu-Back Performance Program.
Don has extensive training and experience in a wide variety of manual therapy techniques including muscle energy and myofacial techniques and sports medicine.
Along with his 30 years of experience as a physical therapist, he has taken continuing education courses on rehabilitation of orthopedic and neurological impairments.
Don is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA). In recognition of his expertise and contributions to physical therapy in Maryland, Governor Robert L. Ehrlich, Jr. appointed Don to the State Board of Physical Therapy Examiners in 2005.

Jessica Reed, practice administrator at Amber Hill Physical Therapy, has a Bachelor of Science in Hotel Recreation and Management from Penn State University and a Master of Business Administration degree from DeVry University’s Keller Graduate School of Management.
She also has a Certificate of Administration through the PPS.
Jessica oversees all the employees in the firm, handles payroll and collections for patients and insurances, credentialing for therapists with insurances and general office duties.
Her professional affiliations include administrative counsel for PPS of the American Physical Therapy Association.
When she is not working, Jessica enjoys golf, running, watching movies, traveling and spending time with her family.
She has been married to James for 14 years and they have two children, Jordan and Jayda.
Diane Sheffler, billing specialist, works in the office at Amber Hill Physical Therapy. She handles verification of benefits, post insurance payments, print and send statements, balance billing and receipts for month’s end, research denied claims and have claims reprocessed for payment, patient collection calls, and other responsibilities assigned by management.
She is a graduate of Waynesboro Senior High School.
Christina has an Associate’s Degree with a Therapeutic Massage Option from Frederick Community College and is licensed in the state of Maryland as an LMT. She is also a member of the ABMP. While offering massage in the evenings at Amber Hill PT, she also works in the billing office handling insurance authorizations, referals, insurance verifications, patient statements and insurance payments.
When she is not working she enjoys spending time with her husband and 2 cats in West Virginia.
Ashley has been with Amber Hill PT off and on since 2006. She graduated from Towson University with a Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science. At AHPT she is responsible for handling insurance authorizations, referrals, insurance verifications, patient statements and insurance payments.
When she is not working, Ashley loves spending time outside going on hikes and playing frisbee golf, as well as relaxing at home with her dog, Daisy. Ashley also teaches a group exercise class called BANG a couple times a week.
Director of Marketing and Operations
Rosina Novak, CPA (retired) has a Bachelor of Science from Shippensburg University and a Master of Business Administration from Mount St. Mary’s University.
She has more than 35 years of experience in the accounting and marketing fields.
She handles financial statements and aspects of the firm’s marketing.
Rhonda spent 4 years in the U.S. Army stationed at Ft. Detrick, MD. She has a Bachelor of Science degree from Shippensburg University in Secondary Education.
She has 19 years’ experience in inside and outside sales. Rhonda has sold everything from credit cards to building products. She started with Amber Hill in August of 2016. She is responsible for marketing and getting new patients into the six offices.
Rhonda enjoys spending time with her son Bobby, family, two dogs and cat.
